Our story

Growing up in Chicago, I faced the weight of emotional and mental challenges without access to support programs that addressed deeper issues. Art became my refuge – a space where dancing, singing, acting, and sketching allowed me to express what I couldn’t put into words.

The arts brought me joy, self-discovery, and a sense of purpose, helping me build confidence and cope with the chaos around me. While my siblings also had access to creative outlets, they lacked opportunities that connected artistic expression to emotional healing. Witnessing their struggles made me realize how essential it is to provide intentional, therapeutic spaces where creativity becomes a path to resilience and recovery..

That realization sparked my mission: to create a safe space where young people can release their pain, discover their strengths, and heal through art. Today, through Youth Civic Light Opera of Chicago, I’m committed to providing accessible arts-based programs that foster self-confidence, resilience, and meaningful connections – especially for those who can’t access traditional therapy.
